Media 100 Announces Shipment of 844/Xi with New Interoperability Release Features

The affordable844/Xi targets current users of dual-stream editing systems by givingthem powerful editorial capabilities with integrated realtimecompositing and myriad realtime effects possibilities, all withrevolutionary 10-bit precision. 844/Xi ships with new InteroperabilityRelease software features including 844/X timeline export to AdobeAfter Effects and support for Adobe Photoshop layers in the 844/Xtimeline.

844/Xi can process up to four streams, two video and two full-motionalpha, in realtime, in any combination. Using its Intelligent LayeringArchitecture (ILA)--an "intelligent" software architecture that fullyleverages the underlying GenesisEngine media supercomputer--844/Xiprocesses unlimited numbers of streams, recursively processing four ata time in realtime. There is no host-based rendering. 844/Xi alsoprovides a simplified way to view and troubleshoot arbitrary layerscalled Visual Voicing. This powerful capability enables editors to viewany two layers in a multi-layer composition, change them, view thechanges--either individually or as a group--all in realtime with noprocessing or rendering.
844/Xi ships with new 844/X Interoperability Release featuresannounced in September at IBC in Amsterdam, including 844/X timelineexport to Adobe After Effects and support for Adobe Photoshop layers inthe 844/X timeline. Additional Interoperability Release functionality,including OMF compatibility with Avid Symphony, Avid Media Composer,Digidesign Pro Tools, Apple Final Cut Pro and Media 100 i, as well asEDL export, is planned to be available in February 2003.
844/Xi and 844/Xe are both available now with prices starting at$24,995 for Media 100 software and hardware. Complete systemconfigurations start at about $40,000 and are available exclusivelythrough authorized 844/X value-added resellers.
