Pinnacle Systems To Provide Vortex News Solutions To CNN

Pinnacle Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: PCLE) and The CNN News Group todayannounced that both parties have signed an agreement for Pinnacle todevelop and install advanced news editing solutions over the comingyear at CNN Center in Atlanta and CNN's New York News Bureau. CNN iscurrently using Pinnacle's Liquid Blue editing systems in New York fordaily news production and later this year plans to integrate bothVortex and Liquid Blue editors into the Palladium shared storagenetwork. The systems will be part of CNN's integrated compresseddigital production infrastructure ready to support the world's busiest24 hours per day/seven days per week broadcast news operation.

In both CNN locations, Pinnacle's Vortex News system will create astate-of-the-art mirrored server resource that tie together Vortex 200journalist edit stations, Vortex 1000, and Vortex Blue nonlinearediting systems; Pinnacle's content capture stations; and playbackdecoders. The system will make use of 10/100 Base T and GigabitEthernet technologies and support a network of Vortex MediaCore serversand RAID-compliant disk arrays managed by a Vortex MetaData ControlSystem.
