VBrick Systems Joins Internet2 Consortium

VBrick Systems, a leader in low-cost DVD-quality video networkingappliances, today announced that it has become a sponsor of theInternet2 Consortium, joining universities, industry and government inthe development and deployment of advanced Internet applications andnetwork services.

A not-for-profit organization led by over 180 U.S. universities,Internet2 is developing and testing new technologies that will enablerevolutionary applications such as digital libraries, virtuallaboratories, distance-independent learning and tele-immersion. As acorporate member, VBrick Systems has provided its award-winning MPEG2video appliances for testing in support of these endeavors and iscommitted to collaborating with Internet2 Universities to acceleratethe creation of tomorrow's Internet.

The value of VBrick technology in the testing and deployment of theInternet2 was evident in the recent "Songs of Sorrow, Songs of Hope,"an innovative performance at New York University and the University ofCalifornia, Irvine, melding music, dance and multimedia to commemoratethe September 11th tragedy. VBrick Systems MPEG encoders and decoderswere used to capture and transmit video of the events in real time overInternet2, enabling performers on both coasts to interact.
