ICIA Opens Registration for InfoComm 2003 and Expanded Line-Up of Activities and Events
The International Communications Industries Association, Inc. (ICIA)has announced the opening of registration for InfoComm 2003, aconference and exhibition for the AV communications and systemsintegration industry, which this year features an expanded line-up ofspecial events, activities and awards, and will be held at the OrangeCounty Convention Center, Orlando, Florida, May 31-June 6, 2003.

The theme of the 2003 Show is "Evolving the Art of Communication,"which celebrates the integration of communication technologies into ourdaily lives. A series of illustrations specially commissioned toillustrate the theme whimsically "enhances" masterpieces of art,ranging from works by Michelangelo to Andrew Wyeth, by incorporatinginto the famous images icons of modern communication technology, suchas a recording microphone in Grant Wood's American Gothic.
The week-long conference and exhibition is designed to serve thediverse needs of more than 20,000 annually-attending dealers, systemsintegrators, rental/staging companies, technology users, manufacturers,independent design consultants, reps and architects. Attendees canreceive in-depth training by peer experts, explore the latest in AVsystems technologies, and conduct business with anyone connected to AVsystems integration, design, installation, rentals, communications andpresentations. More than 550 leading AV manufacturers will exhibit atInfoComm 03, offering over 10,000 products in display, projection,audio technologies, control systems, networking andvideoconferencing.
This year, InfoComm organizers have added a variety of newactivities and events, including:
- The "Art of Communications" Large-Venue Display Gallery, aninteractive exhibit of large-screen displays demonstrating the powerfulimpact of modern display technology coupled with multi-channel surroundsound and dazzling imagery.
- A Manufacturers' Forum on Monday, June 2, where leading display,networking and audio manufacturers highlight key industry trends. Forumspeakers include top executives from Sony, NEC, Crestron and Extron,among others.
- A special new forum for integrators and independent designconsultants focusing on fixed installations on Tuesday, June 3; and aRental and Staging Industry Forum on Wednesday, June 4.
- A two-day Projection Summit offered by Insight Media and theMcLaughlin Consulting Group.
- A Collaborative Conferencing Track provided through an alliance withthe Interactive Multimedia & Collaborative Communications Alliance,offering several courses and a special knowledge pavilion on web-,audio- and videoconferencing.
- A new Streaming Media and Video Production Pavilion, sponsored byPrimedia, showcasing the latest products and services for capturing,editing, encoding, hosting and distributing audio and video via theInternet.
- An expanded education and training program with more than 175sessions, featuring numerous new advanced-level courses,product-specific training from manufacturers, a new technology managerstrack and a special three-day program from Syn-Aud-Con, leaders inaudio training.
- The inauguration of two new annual award traditions - the ARCHI-TECHAV Awards for the best in AV fixed installations being given byARCHI-TECH magazine and sponsored by ICIA, and the Rental & StagingSystems Awards being given by Rental & Staging Systems magazine andsponsored by ICIA.
- A one-of-a-kind, behind-the-scenes AV tour of Disney World on Friday,June 6, the last day of the Show.
