The United Nations Secretariat is seeking a professional for thefollowing position: CHIEF OF UNIT, P-3 BROADCAST AND CONFERENCE SUPPORTSECTION COORDINATION AND SUPPORT SERVICE INFORMATION TECHNOLOGYSERVICES DIVISION OFFICE OF CENTRAL SUPPORT SERVICES DEPARTMENT OFMANAGEMENT FUNCTIONS: The Broadcast and Conference Support Section isresponsible, at Headquarters, for the operation and maintenance of thetechnical facili-ties and equipment required for television, radio andfilm production and for all technical equipment related to conferenceand meeting services.
The Chief, Radio and Conference Unit, is responsible for supervisingthe technical staff and contractors; performing radio, conference andvoice related functions; providing technical advise to the FacilitiesManagement Division (FMD) and other entities for the procurement ofequipment and for the design of modifications or additions to the UNtechnical facilities; manages the stock of spare parts and equipmentand follows the introduction of new technologies and advises theInformation Technology Services Division, the Department of GeneralAssembly Affairs and Conference Services, and FMD accordingly.
QUALIFICATIONS: Advanced University degree in electronic andelectrical engineering; Eight years of experience at the managementlevel in radio broadcasting and radio communications. Knowledge andexperience in the design of telecommunications systems desirable.Communications skills, professionalism and strong teamwork orientationare essential. Skills in planning and scheduling resources; knowledgeofinternet related technologies. Candidates with first leveluniversitydegree and at least 10 years of experience may beconsidered.
LANGUAGES: Fluency in English is required. Working knowledge ofFrench or Spanish desirable.
