(KCPT) is a nonprofit, community-owned TV station serving 853,000 TVhouseholds. Due to a retirement, KCPT is seeking applications andnominations for the position of President & CEO. KCPT is aprogressive pioneer in public broadcasting receiving countless awardsand recognition for programming and educational outreach services. KCPThas total assets of $15 million, an annual $7 million operating budget,a staff of 68 and is located in mid-town Kansas City, MO. The CEO isaccountable to a 35-member Board of Directors and bears fullresponsibility for implementing Board decisions and policies. S/he willprovide leadership in the planning and management of thestation’s fiscal affairs, activities, programming, physicalplant, and will promote sound working relationships among staffmembers. The three most important functions of this position are: (1)to foster and maintain current revenue sources while creating andestablishing new sources of revenue; (2) to articulate and execute thevision for KCPT in an entrepreneurial manner and; (3) to ensure KCPT isviewed as the television station in Kansas City that contributessignificantly to the well-being of the community it serves.
The ideal candidate shall have: an undergraduate degree, preferablyin management, communications, business, or related field, with anadvanced degree preferred; an expertise and enthusiasm in the practicalexecution of successful fundraising programs; experience in communitydevelopment, outreach, and philanthropy, including documented successin establishing relationships with individuals and organizations ofinfluence including civic leaders, charitable agencies, and fundraisingsources; a minimum of five years executive managerial experience, ademonstrated track record in leading an efficient and similarly sizedwork group; a positive career history of upward mobility and successfulresults; strong oral and writing skills, including stand-uppresentation abilities; a solid base of experience in fiscal managementand human resources; and a passion for the vision, mission and purposesof public television. Also preferred is a broad-based background in TVbroadcasting, including a working knowledge of emerging and convergingtechnologies, and their relationship to and potential associated withTV broadcasting, and an understanding of the process of securing grantsand government funding.
KCPT will provide a competitive compensation package designed tomotivate and reward a top performer, including a comprehensive benefitspackage.
