Moviola Acquires Videotape Company

NEW YORK -- Moviola recently announced the acquisition of the assetsof Video Tape Distributors. Randy Paskal, Moviola’s ManagingDirector and Video Tape Distributors’ Vice President StevenGabrielli Jr. announced the new relationship. According to Paskal,Moviola has acquired "certain assets of Video Tape Distributors and thegoodwill."

Video Tape Distributors distributes raw stock tape, includingformats such Umatic, BetaSP, DigiBeta, HDCAM, DVCAM, DVD-R, and allother types of data media.

Paskal and Gabrielli view this as a win-win situation in which bothcompanies benefit from the association. Paskal states, "This will giveus a strong presence in videotape. We have that in our L.A. office andnow we’ll have it in New York."

Combining the companies, Moviola is now the largest videotapedistributor in Los Angeles and New York. Gabrielli and the staff ofVideo Tape Distributors will remain in their existing office in midtownManhattan and will maintain their current capacities.

Paskal reflects upon this merger saying, "We’ve been lookingfor opportunities to expand our focus, which is selling, renting, andeducating. This fits within that, on the sales side. This event is atestimonial to 75-year-old Moviola’s strength and modernity. Weevolve and we develop according to the needs and desires of theindustry we serve."
