ICIA Announces Post-Secondary Education Scholarships for 2004/2005

FAIRFAX, VA--- The International Communications IndustriesAssociation, Inc. (ICIA), premier trade association for theprofessional audiovisual communications industry, has announced theavailability of $60,000 in scholarship funds for college andhigh-school students for the 2004/2005 academic year.

The post-secondary education scholarships are designed to addressthe need of the professional audiovisual (AV) and communicationsindustry for a high-quality workforce. They are awarded to college andhigh school students, and dependents of employees of ICIA membercompanies, and administered by the International CommunicationsIndustries Foundation (ICIF).

The Foundation, an arm of ICIA, is a non-profit charitable andeducational organization chartered to support the audiovideo industry.Endowed in 2000 with $1.2 million to fund scholarships for students andAV industry workers, it continues to receive contributions from leadingAV industry organizations to assist its scholarship programs. Since2001, ICIF has awarded over 50 scholarships for post-secondaryeducation.

This year's awards are offered in amounts of $2,500 to collegeseniors completing bachelors degrees or students in their final year ofstudy for associate degrees, $1,500 to dependents of employees of ICIAmember companies, and $500 to high school seniors. The college-levelscholarships include assistance in finding paid internships, arequirement of the award.

To be eligible, students must be majoring in audiovisual subjects orrelated fields, including audio, video, telecommunications,electronics, technical aspects of the theater, data networking,software development and information technology. Students with othermajors may be considered if they can demonstrate a relationship tocareer goals in the AV industry.

The deadline for applying for the scholarships is March 31, 2004.Award decisions will be made by a panel of AV industry leaders, basedon their examination of the applications, grade point averages, workexperience where applicable, and letters of recommendation.
