Upcoming HDFEST Event Will Screen 40 High-Definition Films
Now in its fourth year, HDFEST "the world's only high-definitionfilm festival," continues to break new ground. HDFEST recentlyannounced its upcoming Los Angeles event which will take place June5th, 6th, 7th and 8th at the 350-seat high-definition theater at theLos Angeles Film School, 6363 Sunset Boulevard. The Los Angeles filmschool is also a sponsor of the event.
HDFEST will be screening a variety of films, 40 in total, which wereall created using high-definition technology. The HDFEST Los Angelesevent is part of the HDFEST 2002-2003 World Tour which has alreadyvisited London and Paris in 2002, and will visit New York and Torontoin 2003. HDFEST was founded to promote the usage of high-definitiontechnology among filmmakers. In 2000, HDFEST became the onlyhigh-definition film festival in the world, and hosted the firsthigh-definition expo which showcased newly emerging high-definitiontechnology. Further, HDFEST holds the unique distinction of screeningHD television programs including "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation,""Lexx," "Gene Roddenberry's: Earth Final Conflict" many for the firsttime in high-definition before audiences and creators. With its eventsin London and Paris last year, HDFEST launched the firsthigh-definition film festivals ever to take place in Europe. Festivaldirector Issac Alexander says "The Los Angeles 2003 HDFEST event marksa real turning point in the history of filmmaking, the fact that thefestival is screening 40 HD films this year really speaks to the greatvariety of high-definition films being produced in past yearalone."
The HDFEST 2003 Los Angeles event is the largest high-definitionevent ever to take place in the Los Angeles area. During the four-dayfestival, the 40 different high-definition films which will screeninclude feature films, shorts, commercials, music videos, anddocumentaries. All screenings will be projected at HD resolution,producing images of the extremely vibrant picture quality. The festivalwill also include panel discussions which discuss the merits ofhigh-definition filmmaking and filmmaker's experiences with the medium.Festival high-definition awards including "Best High-DefinitionFeature," "Best High-Definition Cinematography," "Best High-DefinitionShort" among others will be determined at the event. A prestigiouspanel of judges will be determining the winners of these awards.
Films which have been accepted to the HDFEST Los Angeles 2003 eventoriginate from a variety of countries including Japan, Korea, US,Russia, Germany, France, Canada, and England among others. It will bethe first time many of these films will be screened in the UnitedStates.
