Philip Livingston Elected ATSC Chairman

The Board of Directors of the Advanced Television Systems Committee,Inc. (ATSC) has elected Philip Livingston to be the organization'schairman for 2002. Mr. Livingston currently serves as the VicePresident for Technical Liaison at Panasonic Broadcast.

Livingston began his career in broadcast engineering four decadesago at WVOS, WVIP, and WOKR-TV, served as Associate Director forInstructional Resources for 10 years at the State University of NewYork, and has spent the last 20 years at Panasonic. Phil has beeninvolved in the work of ATSC since 1987, and he is also an activemember of the SMPTE.

The Board of Directors also elected Lynn Claudy, NAB Senior VicePresident, Science and Technology, and Jay Adrick Harris, VicePresident, Strategic Business Development, to serve as ViceChairmen.

Also serving on the Board for 2002 are Wendell Bailey, NBC; EdwardCaleca, PBS; William Check, NCTA; Regis Crinon, Intel; Joseph Flaherty,CBS; Ira Goldstone, Tribune; Thomas Hankinson, ABC; Ralph Justus, CEA;Wayne Luplow, Zenith; Michael McEwen, CDTV; Sam Narasimhan, Motorola;Robert Plummer, DirecTV; Glenn Reitmeier, IEEE; Brian Smith, Philips;Peter Symes, SMPTE; Victor Tawil, MSTV.

The Advanced Television Systems Committee is an international,non-profit organization dedicated to developing voluntary standards forthe entire range of advanced television systems. ATSC memberorganizations represent the broadcast, broadcast equipment, motionpicture, consumer electronics, computer, cable, satellite, andsemiconductor industries.
