Wim Wenders Honored With Filmmakers Alliance Vision Award

HOLLYWOOD, Calif.-- Filmmakers Alliance (FA) honored director WimWenders (Buena Vista Social Club, Wings of Desire,Paris, Texas) with the 3rd Annual Vision Award at Live@5!, the5th anniversary screening and celebration held at the Director’sGuild of America on August 14, 2002. The award was presented by PeterFalk.

The Vision Award recognizes established filmmakers who havemaintained their distinctive vision throughout the body of their work.Past recipients include directors Mike Figgis and Terry Gilliam. Theevent draws a turn-away crowd of filmmakers, film-lovers, industryprofessionals, celebrities, and media.

“It was a truly magnificent night," says FA president JacquesThelemaque. "The turnout was absolutely overwhelming, but the energyand enthusiasm of the audience in support of both Wim and FilmmakersAlliance was incredibly inspiring.”

Also in attendance were Dennis Hopper, Harry Dean Stanton, SteveGuttenberg, Matt Letscher (Good Morning Miami), Emily Wagner andKristin Minter (ER), Tom Wright (P.S. Your Cat is Dead),Ruthanna Hopper, screenwriter Michael Ellis (The WeddingPlanner), and John Landis.

The event was presented by Sony and sponsored by the DGA, WGA,Kodak, Canon, Panasonic, Sony Pictures Studios, Canopus, ChapmanLeonard, Shortenz, and Focal Press.

The event also provides support to the innovative, nine-year-oldnon-profit filmmaking collective, Filmmakers Alliance. Creatingrevolutionary new models of experience, education, and production, FAhas supported the production of hundreds of shorts, docs, commercials,music videos, experimental works, and features that have played infestivals around the world. This year's films include America SoBeautiful(Berlin Film Festival), Solitude(GenArt), TheDogwalker(The Los Angeles Film Festival), and Dahmer, whichis currently enjoying a limited theatrical run.
