VDS Aquires Liberty Software Product Line from Chyron

MELVILLE, NY, August 6, 2001—Video Design Software (VDS) hasacquired the assets and operations of the Liberty Software product linefrom Chyron Corporation (OTC BB: CYRO). The two companies have enteredinto a new strategic relationship whereby all sales, marketing,technical development and customer service/support of the Liberty Paintand Animation design software will be transferred to VDS.

Effective August 1, 2001, VDS will manage all aspects of the Libertyproduct line. In this capacity, VDS will continue the development ofLiberty initiated by Chyron and expand development efforts to enablenew features and plug-in applications for Liberty, as well as explorethe product’s utilization in new markets. VDS will also provideLiberty customers with continued technical and operational support fromits Melville and Toronto offices. To continue the line’s growthand sales efforts, VDS will begin working closely with Chyron’sdirect sales force and domestic and international dealers, which arethe primary sales channels for Liberty and will accelerate developmentefforts of the Liberty plug in application for the Chyron Lyricproduct. As part of the agreement, the complete Liberty engineeringteam, including Barry Hicks, Engineering Manager for Liberty Paint andAnimation, will join VDS. Technical operations will continue to bebased out of the current Cupertino, California office.
