DPS Previews Future Hardware and Software at IBC 2001
IBC 2001, Amsterdam - September 14, 2001 - DPS, a business unit ofLeitch Technology Corporation, is giving visitors to the Leitch standat IBC 2001 a preview of two future products: dpsQuattrus(tm), thelatest generation in multi-layer, nonlinear editing hardware, anddpsVelocity(tm) 8.0, the next version of our acclaimed nonlinearediting system.
The dpsQuattrus hardware features real-time simultaneous playback offour video streams - in any combination of uncompressed or compressedvideo - and six dynamic graphics streams. An optional quad 3D DVEmodule adds four channels of real-time 3D effects, includingperspective, rotation and warp, without requiring an additional slot orIRQ in the host system. dpsQuattrus will not replace dpsReality ordpsVelocity in the DPS product family, but instead will represent thehardware platform for a new tier of nonlinear editing system for usersrequiring the additional video streams and real-time 3D effectsdpsQuattrus provides.
New dpsVelocity 8.0 features being previewed include multipletimeline support, real-time garbage mattes, multi-camera editing,real-time support for video files with alpha channel, and support for anew, optional external audio mixing console with motorized faders andintegrated jog/shuttle control. dpsVelocity 8.0 will also featureflexible timeline enhancements including as Track Mute/Solo, theability to use eight real-time mono audio tracks (rather than fourstereo pairs), independent variable track scaling, increased zoom-levelprecision, enhanced audio waveform representations and keyframingenhancements. A release date has not been established for dpsVelocityversion 8.0, but users can experience the power of dpsVelocity editingimmediately. dpsVelocity 7.6, featuring direct timeline integrationwith eyeon Software's DFX+ compositing software, is now shipping, andwhen dpsVelocity version 8.0 is released next year, existing users willbe given the opportunity to purchase upgrades at special upgradepricing.
