First Annual Visual Effects Society Award Winners

Discreet, a division of Autodesk, Inc., congratulates all thewinners of the First Annual Visual Effects Society (VES) Awards,following the ceremony that took place February 19 in Los Angeles,California. At the gala black tie event, which was attended by morethan 350 visual effects professionals, entertainment industryluminaries, and guests, 20 awards were presented for excellence invisual effects work in feature films, television, commercials, andmusic videos.

Several of the winning digital artists and post-productionfacilities are Discreet customers, who employ systems and software suchas inferno(r), flame(r), fire(r), combustion(r) and 3ds max(r) fortheir visual effects needs.

Best Visual Effects in an Effects Driven Motion Picture-Jim Rygiel,Joe Letteri, Randall William Cook, and Alex Funke for "Lord of theRings: The Two Towers."

Best Special Effects in a Motion Picture- Steve Ingram, Blair Foord,Rich Cordobes, and Scott Harens for "The Lord of the Rings: The TwoTowers."

Best Supporting Visual Effects in a Motion Pictures-Glenn Neufeld,Derek Spears, Dan Malvin, and Al Disarro for "The Sum of allFears."

Best Visual Effects in a Commercial-William Bartlett, Andrew Daffy,Jake Mengers, and Helen Mackenzie for XBOX "Mosquito."

Best Visual Effects in a Music Video-Andrew Honacker, Steven Wagner,Sean Capone, and Talon Nightshade for "So to Speak."
