Quantel Artist of the Year Announced
Société Radio-Canada (SRC) graphic designer Alain Provosthas scooped both the North American Regional and overall InternationalQuantel Artist of the Year Awards at this year's BDA/PROMAX annualconvention in Los Angeles.
Alain's winning entry, a complete program graphics package heproduced for SRC's coverage of the 2001 Edmonton World AthleticsChampionships, was chosen ahead of nearly 350 competing entries fromaround the world by a panel of BDA/PROMAX judges. The work was producedentirely on a Quantel HAL system.
Provost accepted his Awards from Entertainment Tonight presentersJann Carl and Mark Steines in front of an audience of 4,000 attendeesat the BDA/PROMAX Gala Awards evenings in June.
"It is the highest honour a designer can receive to have his workjudged and chosen for such an award by his peers," says Alain. "I wouldalso like to thank Quantel for its vision in supporting and promotingthe videographic arts so generously and publicly."
Quantel Marketing Manager, Paul Nicholls, who has been responsiblefor the setting up and running of the Quantel Artist of the Year Awardwith BDA/PROMAX over the last two years, says, "This is an incrediblepiece of work by Alain, and a very worthy winner, particularly giventhe fantastic quality of the competing entries. The number of entriesthis year was a massive increase over 2000, and we look forwardconfidently to an even greater contest next year when we will again berunning the competition in conjunction with BDA/PROMAX."
