Cinesite Europe Moves into Soho Facility

Cinesite (Europe) Ltd has officially moved into their new facilityat Medius House, 2 Sheraton Street, Soho. The new space offers greatbenefits to both clients and staff, with enhanced facilities andgreater capacity throughout. Cinesite’s UK operations now occupy50,000 feet of space at their bases in Soho, Shepperton Studios andPinewood Studios.

The new offices in Soho house a 36-seat screening theatre, offerfilm and video projection, large client meeting rooms, multiple gradingsuites, Avid suites and a large suite of rooms for client hire.,p>“Cinesite’s pipeline has grown extensively over the pastyears, and there was a need to improve the scale and quality of ourfacility in order to accommodate the projects we wereundertaking,” says Colin Brown, chairman of Cinesite. “The30,000 square feet of custom designed postproduction offices in Sohowill help Cinesite complete work for the large, high-profileproductions on which we have historically worked, but equally have theflexibility to accommodate independent and televisionproductions.”

Managing Director of Cinesite (Europe) Ltd Antony Hunt says,“This new space allows us the opportunity to scale up ouroperation in line with the projected growth of films coming to the UKto shoot or post produce over the coming months and years.”

Cinesite (Europe) Ltd was previously located at the corner ofCarlisle Street, since opening for business in late 1993. Medius House,originally part of the British Library, was extensively refurbishedbefore becoming available for lease in 2000. Cinesite announced theirintention to move in October 2002.

The Medius building has a stunning high ceiling and atrium entrancehall, a modern feel, and an abundance of glass and natural light.Cinesite occupies two entire floors of the building as well as basementarchive space. Cinesite has worked closely with architects anddesigners for almost a year to transform the large open spaces into acontemporary, postproduction environment that is amenable for bothclients and staff.

“Cinesite has seen many beneficial changes over the past fewmonths, with new key management figures and the completion of somemajor feature film deals,” adds Brown. “This move is afantastic opportunity for Cinesite to expand upon our recent successesand develop a cutting-edge work environment that reflects ourworld-leading reputation.”

Cinesite is currently creating a major portion of the digitaleffects for "Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban" (Warner Bros.),and is also supervising the visual effects and creating all of thedigital effects for "King Arthur" (Disney/Bruckheimer), currentlyfilming in Ireland. Cinesite’s Shepperton Studios’ basedmodeling unit recently completed the model unit build and photographyfor "Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban." They have since movedstraight into production on "The Phantom of The Opera" (The ReallyUseful Co.). After successfully completing all of the physical andfloor effects for "Thunderbirds" (Working Title), Effects Associates,Cinesite’s physical effects subsidiary based at Pinewood Studios,is currently completing work on "Sahara" (Crusader/Paramount) andWimbledon (Working Title).
