30 Emerging Filmmakers to Get Chance to Exhibit at Cannes

Thirty emerging filmmakers are getting the chance to exhibit theirwork at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival thanks to a program beingoffered by New York based Internet entertainment company GAZM.org andproduction house DEFCON Entertainment. This is the first time independent filmmakers have been offered suchan all-encompassing package – which includes screening time atthe Palais in Cannes to show their short film, accreditation to theworld renowned Film Festival, access to the “Market Club,”accommodations in Cannes and even airfare from New York. The trip runsfrom May 15 –29 and costs $2,000. One lucky student will receivethe package free of charge through a scholarship being offered by theorganizers.

“Go Gonzo At Cannes” organizer Jacob Shwirtz –founder and CEO of GAZM.org – says this is a once in a lifetimeopportunity for film students.

“As a film graduate myself, I know how much students wouldlearn from a project like this. It is a great opportunity not only toexpose your work to other film-makers, but also to make invaluablecontacts in all aspects of the film industry,” says Shwirtz.

The package is limited to 30 students, and places are alreadyfilling up in advance of the March 15th application deadline. For nextyear’s Festival, the organizers hope to double the number ofplaces available as well as offer additional perks.
