Windows Media DRM Technology Helps Enable Secure Download andViewing of Online Films


Santa Monica, CA - Movielink, the new online movie rental service,today announced that it has selected Microsoft to be a key provider ofboth Windows Media Digital Rights Management (DRM) and Windows MediaAudio and Video technology that will help enable the service to offerconsumers reliable and secure movies.

Movielink's DRM solutions, one of which Microsoft will supply, willallow a customer to choose the desired viewing format of a licensedmovie.

Windows Media DRM technology enables Movielink the ability to grantaccess to only those customers who have purchased the right to playlicensed material. This, combined with Movielink's other securitymeasures, helps ensure that Movielink can utilize the IP platform tooffer high quality, reliable content consistent with initial businessrules such as 24-hour unlimited viewing rental and future businessmodels established by Movielink and its content providers.

Movielink's service is compatible with Microsoft Windowstechnologies, including the popular Windows Media Player. Windows MediaPlayer will offer Movielink users high quality, fast and flexibleplayback of films, previews and clips. Users will have full viewingcontrols, including play, pause, stop, fast forward and rewind.
