Rohde & Schwarz Receives Second Consecutive Emmy

New York -- Rohde & Schwarz, a global leader in the manufactureof communications and test & measurement instruments and systems,recently received its second consecutive Emmy award. Thecompany’s TV Test Transmitter SFQ was acknowledged for“Outstanding Achievement in Engineering Development“ by TheNational Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. The award waspresented to Michael Vondermassen, Executive Vice-President of theBroadcast Division on October 16, 2001, at a black-tie dinner ceremonyat the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City.

The SFQ, a solution for testing digital TV systems, was recognizedfor its technology that enables it to produce perfect digitalmodulation in all world-wide standards. A multi-format, frequencyagile, digital test transmitter, the SFQ was designed to accommodateterrestrial, cable, satellite broadcast and data industries. Inaddition to producing reliable and repeatable signals, it also producesimpaired signals for stress testing in 0.1db increments. The SFQ hasalso been modified to perform testing for the ATSC T3/S9 committeelooking at 8VSB enhancements.

“The SFQ is recognized as the industry standard for TVreceiver chip designers and set-box industries. It’s rewardingthat its advanced technology has now been acknowledged by theprestigious National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences,”said John Pannucci, President of Rohde & Schwarz, Inc., the USsubsidiary. “Rohde & Schwarz is deeply honored to have beenawarded two Emmys in two years.”
