Cliff Plumer Named ILM Chief Technology Officer

San Rafael, CA -- Cliff Plumer has been promoted to the position ofChief Technology Officer, it was announced recently by Gail Currey,Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Industrial Light &Magic (ILM).

Plumer,who most recently served as ILM's Director of DigitalTechnologies, is a five-year veteran of ILM and has been instrumentalin guiding ILM’s massive expansion in the digital arena. The CTOpost had been vacant for over two years.

“Cliff’s leadership has already been demonstrated by hisreorganizing of ILM's digital technologies areas to align better withour production goals,” says Currey about Plumer’sselection. “He helped to build and understands our infrastructurebetter than anyone. Moving him up into this position was the obviouschoice.”

As Chief Technology Officer, Cliff Plumer, will oversee all of thecompany’s research and development, systems support, networkingoperations, information systems and production software.

“Advancements in technology are allowing ILM to provide morepowerful tools for the creative process,” says Plumer. “Thecompany is comprised of the best and the brightest minds working in ourindustry and it is an honor to be leading the technologyteam.”

Prior to joining ILM in 1996, Plumer was a partner at ParallaxSoftware, which developed software tools for the visual effectsindustry. At that time, Plumer worked with with ILM during productionon films like "Death Becomes Her," "Jurassic Park" and "Forrest Gump."Plumer also previously worked at Wavefront Technologies, a 3D animationsoftware company.

Industrial Light & Magic is a division of Lucas Digital Ltd.LLC, which also includes Skywalker Sound. Formed in 1993, Lucas DigitalLtd. is dedicated to serving the digital needs of the entertainmentindustry for visual effects, commercial production and audiopost-production.
