Documentum Partners With Telestream for Advanced Audio/Video Media Management

PLEASANTON, Calif. -- Documentum, a provider of enterprise contentmanagement, today announced that it has signed a partnership agreementwith Telestream, an established global leader in media encoding andinternet protocol delivery technology with high-profile customers suchas CNN, NBC and Warner Bros. The partnership will integrate TelestreamFlipFactory transcoding automation technology into the new advancedaudio/video plug-in for Documentum Media Services. Available now, theadvanced audio/video transcoding option enables content creators inboth global 2000 corporations and media and entertainment companies toconvert digital assets automatically between leading audio and videoformats, including popular streaming formats.

The partnership and resulting integration was developed in directresponse to demand from companies who were looking for media managementsolutions to transform audio and video assets into media that could beeasily accessed online by anyone anywhere in the world, repurposed forthe web, and reused for corporate activities, such as salespresentations. The primary obstacles are the number and variety ofdigital and streaming formats involved, and the difficulties related tohandling the large audio and video source files.

Documentum's new advanced audio/video media plug-in, whichincorporates Telestream's FlipFactory technology, automates the tediousmanual process of transcoding media into a variety of web-ready formatsand bit rates. It automatically delivers the resulting files tostreaming servers, content distribution networks, or editing systems,for applications such as repurposing audio/video content for the Web(for example: RealVideo, QuickTime, Windows Media, MP3, and WAV) andfor wireless devices.
