Leitch Awarded Emmy for Pioneering Development in Digital Upconversion
Toronto (November 1) — Leitch Technology Corporation(TSE:LTV;NASDAQ:LVID) — a provider of high-quality digital videoand audio solutions to the broadcasting, telecommunications, cable andInternet industries — today announced that it has been awarded anEmmy for outstanding achievement in television technology by theNational Academy of Television Arts and Sciences for its JUNOupconverter.
At an awards ceremony held in New York City on October 16, Leitchwas honored by the Academy for “Pioneering Development of aDigital Upconverter From 525 to HDTV for DTV Broadcasting.” Aninternational team developed the JUNO upconverter, which contributed tothe early success of the digital television transition in the UnitedStates. It was first introduced to the public at the NationalAssociation of Broadcasters Convention in 1998.
The Leitch JUNO upconverter is notable for selectable 1080i/720poperation; integrated audio delay compensation; 3:2 film pull-downsequence processing; advanced motion-adaptive conversion; and a compact2RU package design.

The Academy has now awarded the Leitch family of companies a totalof six Emmys for technical/engineering achievement.
