da Vinci Launches Master Colorist Awards Competition
da Vinci Systems today launched its first annual Master ColoristAwards competition. The company is now accepting submissions in fourcategories and will feature the winning show reels at the NAB2004exhibition, April 19 to 22, in Las Vegas. In addition to theprestigious Master Colorist title and prominent exposure at theexhibition, winning colorists in the TV and long form, theatricalrelease, commercial, and music video categories will receive a trophyand three days of all-expenses-paid training with Kevin Shaw, thecompany's director of training, at da Vinci's facilities in CoralSprings, Fla.
"This competition is designed to showcase the innovation,creativity, and skill with which our clients have put da Vinci productsto work," said da Vinci VP of Marketing and Product Management MatthewStraeb. "Post houses and other creative firms are continually findingnew ways to use our film enhancement and restoration tools. We lookforward to highlighting these achievements on the worldwide stageprovided by NAB 2004."
To be eligible for the competition, each show reel submitted mustdemonstrate work that utilized a da Vinci Systems product. The entrycan be a completed project, elements of a project, a reel producedspecifically for the competition, or a promotional reel includingselections of some or all of these. Each show reel may be submitted inany professional broadcast format and must include the category,colorist name and facility, client's name (if applicable), and a shortdescription of the entry. Colorists can include before-and-aftercomparisons if necessary. Contestants can submit entries for more thanone category, but each category must be submitted as a separateentry.
Entries will be judged by an international panel of industryexperts, including leading journalists, consultants, and educatorswithin the field. The trophies will be presented to the winningcolorists at the Telecine Internet Group's (TIG) annual party, to beheld in Las Vegas during NAB 2004.
Each submission also must be accompanied by a consent release,available at www.davsys.com. Entries are due by Feb. 15, 2004,and may be delivered to:
