Brickyard VFX Goes West
Brickyard VFX, an artist-owned-and-operated effects company out ofBoston, formalized its West Coast expansion today with the opening ofBrickyard VFX Pacific in Santa Monica. Brickyard VFX works closely withtop advertising agencies, including Arnold Worldwide and Hill Holliday,on campaigns for Volkswagen, Coors, Fidelity and other leading brands;notable projects include Budweiser's SuperBowl spot "Replay" and VW's"Squares," a Gold Lion winner at Cannes.
Brickyard VFX Atlantic was founded in 1999, operating as atight-knit, hands-on enterprise run entirely by its artists in Boston'sBack Bay. The formula worked so well, Brickyard chose to bring it westin a move that unites effects industry veterans Steve Michaels, PatrickPoulatian and Diana Young in Santa Monica with Kirsten Andersen, GeoffMcAuliffe, Brian Drewes and Dave Waller in Boston. Several of theindividuals making up the Pacific and Atlantic crews have workedtogether closely on various projects in the past, and this developmentformalizes a working relationship that has been in effect for manyyears.
The Santa Monica-based operation is co-owned by Steve Michaels,co-founder of Method Studios and former CEO of 525 Post in Hollywood;Patrick Poulatian, a music video and commercial effects artist alsoformerly of 525; and Geoff McAuliffe and Dave Waller, both co-ownersand artists at Brickyard VFX Atlantic. Rounding out the Brickyard VFXteam are Producer Diana Young and VFX Artist George Fitz in SantaMonica and Executive Producer Brian Drewes, Producer Kirsten Andersenand artists Robin Hobart and Peter Bullis in Boston.
