IVC Offers New Digital Intermediate Film-Out Process

Burbank, CA---IVC High Definition Data Center (International VideoConversions, Inc.) has developed a new technology, high speed, 35mmfilm-out process, now available as part of IVC’s digitalintermediate/film laboratory services. Ken Holland, President of IVC,stated, “We are pleased to announce that this proprietarytechnology offers both high quality and fast turnaround, at a lowercost than other film-out processes.”

“During the past year digital intermediate (DI)postproduction--in HD, 2K or higher resolutions--has almost replacedtraditional film editing and completion of major theatrical motionpictures,” added Revis Scott Call, IVC’s Vice President& General Manager. “From a proper DI all technical deliveriescan be made, such as: a film-out, a HD Digital Cinema master, a HD orSD broadcast master, a DVD master or a data stream. For live-actionoriginal photography IVC always recommends shooting 35mm film for abest DI finish, Super 16mm is acceptable for some subjects; however, many producers now prefer HD/24p origination, particularly if there isheavy use of digital effects, for TV movies or a film-out for astandard 1.85 widescreen release. And today, most animated features arecomputer graphic originated and completed as a HD or 2K DI. IVC’snew film-out process is an ideal choice for making cost-effectivenegatives from these sources.”

IVC’s increasing DI postproduction activity has led to anexpansion of its in-house, state-of-the-art, film laboratory. Inaddition to 16/35mm color and B & W developing, digital dailies andliquid gate printing for new productions, IVC also provides the latesttechnologies for optical and digital restoration and preservation ofolder features and film originated TV series. “We have theexperts, the technology, and the reputation for making old film betterthan originally released,” concluded Bill Infuso, IVC’sVice President, Operations.
