Stockholm-based Sto.pp Selects Da Vinci's 2K Plus
Da Vinci Systems announced that Stockholm-based Sto.pp, apostproduction firm specializing in SD and HD commercials for theEuropean market, has purchased Da Vinci's 2K Plus color correctionsystem. The company selected the 2K Plus in order to expand itsservices to include advanced color enhancement technologies for clientssuch as Ikea, McDonald's, Burger King, Renault, and Nokia.
"When we decided to construct a telecine room, the 2K Plus was theclear choice from the start. It provides the color-grading tools andtricks we need in order to offer complete post-production services forour clients in the commercial market," says Magnus Strömfelt,co-founder of Sto.pp. "As a result, it is easier for us to address anybumps in the process as they occur, and take each job to a final mastermore quickly and efficiently."
Based on Da Vinci's Emmy award-winning 2K, the 2K Plus is a realtimesystem that supports multiple standards and resolutions. The 2K Plusprovides colorists with additional flexibility through advancements inthe primary and secondary color correction feature set, an enhanced keybus, improved gamma curve adjustment, and dedicated Kilovector keyoutputs.
"We chose to go with the 2K Plus because it provides a full rangeof features, so we spend less time working with the machine and moretime concentrating on the image," says Sto.pp Colorist Martin Wells,who has worked with Da Vinci products for more than a decade. "Set upis simple right from the start, and it's a highly flexible system, sowe can share it easily between our colorists. The desktop is easy tonavigate because it is customizable to each user. With multiplewindows, very effective color selection, and the defocus board, the 2Kgives us the potential to create new and exciting looks for ourclients."
