3dBob Productions Receives Five Omni Awards

Capping a significant growth year, 3dBob Productions of Burbank,California, was awarded five Omni Intermedia Awards in late 2001,honoring the computer animation company’s achievements incharacter animation and visual effects.

The awards, which recognize outstanding production, design andcontent in a variety of fields, were chosen by industry peers as anexample of technical and visual excellence. The Fall 2001 competitionsaw over 500 entries reviewed by 31 judges.

The facility, helmed by partners Bob Arvin and Jake Aguas, receiveda Gold Omni – the highest honor – for its CGI work on theseason finale storm sequence of the highly rated TV series“JAG.” Other winning entries included 3dBob’s VFXwork on the season finale of the sci-fi show “Roswell,”which featured an exploding mountaintop and alien spaceship (Bronzeaward), and an all-CGI sequence showcasing virtual reality charactersand environments (Bronze award).

“Our team of animators and producers gave tremendous effort toproduce their absolute best work. These awards are a tribute to theireffort,” said Aguas, 3dBob’s executive vice president andmanaging partner. “We have an exceptionally talented team ofartists.”

The company, now in production on its first 3D photo-realisticmovie, also garnered two Silver awards for excellence in characteranimation for its 3D Bill Cosby commercial spots. The spots, whichaired on the PAX Network in 2000, earned the animation studio threeTelly Awards earlier in 2001.
