The new Hollywood Post Alliance has been established to representthe broad interests of the postproduction industry in SouthernCalifornia. "The Hollywood Post Alliance has been created to serve anindustry in transition," says Leon Silverman, HPA president andexecutive vice president of Laser Pacific Media Corporation. "Duringthese times of tremendous technological and economic challenges andopportunities, the entire postproduction industry can be best served bylearning and working together."

Unlike previous postproduction organizations which focused solely onservice companies, the Hollywood Post Alliance provides an umbrellaorganization for the more than 15,000 people working in all aspects ofthe industry in Southern California. The new alliance will alsorepresent and support postproduction issues nationally through itsonline presence, Technology Retreat, and other regular events, and byits ongoing work with other entertainment industry organizations.

The Alliance brings together both companies and individuals fromacross the wide spectrum of the postproduction industry. Studios andnetworks, as well as their service industry vendors, technologymanufacturers, and the men and women who have made their careers inpostproduction as executives, associate producers, supervisors, coordinators, or in technical and creative positions will find a homewithin this new Alliance. In addition, the many organizations thatcollaborate with or support the postproduction industry will also bewelcomed into the HPA.

HPA provides a place for all to meet, in a regular and structuredenvironment, to learn from each other, and to address issues relevantto the industry in the areas of business, technology, education, andadvocacy. Silverman says, "By joining forces with the entire communityof interests in post production, a larger voice as well as an ongoingforum for our industry can be established."

In addition to providing networking and educational opportunities, the Alliance also provides the infrastructure for membership peergroups to address their own specific needs within the industry.

The Hollywood Post Alliance's focus on creating events that tacklethe important issues of the day is epitomized by their sponsorship ofthe highly regarded Technology Retreat.
