Visual Effects Society Appoints Eric Roth As New Director

LOS ANGELES, Calif.-- The Visual Effects Society (VES) todayannounced the appointment of Eric Roth as the organization's newExecutive Director. Roth brings more than 15 years of strategicmanagement, communications and public affairs experience to his newposition at VES. Through his work as the former Executive Director ofL.A. Works, Los Angeles’ premier volunteer action center, Rothalso gained critical working knowledge of the non-profit sector. Priorto joining VES, Roth was extensively involved in local governmentpolitics as a former Chief of Staff at Los Angeles City Hall, inaddition to managing the Government Affairs Department for the SouthernCalifornia Association of Governments.  

“We are very excited to bring Eric into the organization. Hisexperience with non-profit organizations will be of great benefit inhelping VES to continue its growth as a society to honor, advance andpromote visual effects for the VES membership and the industry. Erichas a great passion for the work we are doing, and is an excellent fitfor VES,” said Carl Rosendahl, Chair of the VES Board ofDirectors.

VES Founding Executive Director Tom Atkin announced last Octoberthat he would be stepping down from his position this year. Atkin willwork together with Roth during the transition, and will continue to runthe VES 2004 Festival of Visual Effects (June 18-20) and the eDIT/VESFestival in Frankfurt, Germany, in September. " In eight shortyears VES has developed into a world class organization for visualeffects professionals,” said Atkin. "The foundation is in placeand, under Eric's leadership, the continued growth of VES is in goodhands. I know that he will perform with the honor and integrity that isrequired to advance the visual effects industry and the lives of theVES membership who comprise it."
