Meteor Studios Nominated for a Visual Effects Society Award
Montreal---Meteor Studios announced that it has been nominated for aVisual Effects Society Award for Best Visual Effects in a TelevisionMiniseries, Movie, or a Special for its work on the documentary specialJames Cameron's Expedition: Bismarck currently airing on TheDiscovery Channel.
The Meteor team, lead by Visual Effects Supervisor Dean Lewis,created over 60 visual effects shots in high definition for thistelevision special, showing the Bismarck as it lived in battle and diedat the bottom of the ocean.
Meteor Studios officially opened in January 2001 as a joint venturebetween Evergreen Films, LLC and Discovery Communications, Inc., andhas quickly become the largest visual effects facility in Montreal withover 120 employees dedicated to the highest level of visual effects andcharacter animation. Meteor Studios' artists excel at bringing extinctspecies back to life and providing a glimpses into civilizations pastand future while creating images that are both visually stunning andscientifically accurate.
