Shoot Tools: Creative Labs Vado HD
The market for small, mostly made-for-YouTube videocameras is a curious one first mined by Pure Digital's Flip. About the size of a fat deck of cards, these new products fall halfway in price and size between small digital still cameras with added video capabilities and the cheapest cam-corders, ones that cost about $300. What are they good for? Well, the Vado HD pocket videocam could be a great way to capture — without much preplanning or camera fumbling — 720p scenes for a behind-the-scenes “making of” movie or other impromptu situations where putting a camera to your eye draws too much attention. The 2in. LCD allows for flexible shooting, while the mini-HDMI output port — a unique point — means no signal loss via recompression.
