As LCD manufacturing chops improve, even larger-sized monitors — 24in. and larger — are becoming a relative bargain. Dell's 30in. widescreen UltraSharp 3007WFP LCD is a knockout, and its very competitive price point (at presstime) undercuts that of Apple's pioneering 30in. version. Both use panels manufactured by Philips to reach 2560×1600 (WQXGA) resolutions. Reviewers at PC Magazine, however, rate the Dell as offering a higher contrast range due to a different backlighting design.
