Uses Texas Instruments'' DarkChip2 DLP chipset. Price: $1,690

EP1690

Another new native widescreen, single-DLP projector is Optoma's EP1690. Extremely affordable, it throws 2500 ANSI lumens, and its contrast is rated at 2500:1. The WXGA projector works with Optoma's Widescreen Maximizer software, which is free for download on the company's website, and which helps match 4:3 notebooks screens' aspect ratio with that of the projector. Taking advantage of the dual video out feature of most Windows laptops, the software resets the video driver to match up with the EP1690's aspect.
