Despite the ascendancy of non-tape-based media, the changeover from tape will take years. So capturing to archival-grade magnetic media is essential. With that in mind, TDK has introduced a new line of Pro Grade DVC tapes, which record DV and HDV according to “digital master quality” specs. The company highlights two of its technologies present in the new line: Dual Layer Metal Evaporation and the Hard Carbon Protective Layer. The latter protects against scratches, de-oxidation, and temperature and humidity. TDK touts its 63-minute Pro Grade DVC tapes for their stable base layer that ensures fewer dropouts.
