Demanding user environments can challenge any video-production server. That's why picking a well-regarded company with a long track record might save some grief. Abekas, which was founded in 1982, fits the bill. When looking over the recently introduced Kiva server, it's easy to see why the company is still in business after so many years. The 4-channel HD/SD production server features good image quality because it uses the latest JPEG 2000 (J2K) wavelet-based compression technology that records with variable bit rates up to 200Mbps. Kiva employs a RAID 6 disk array, offered in capacities of either 40 hours or 80 hours while recording four video streams at 200Mbps.
