If you need to spec a design that involves multiple streams of HD playback, simply stacking up playback decks or even employing a standard video server might not be the best choice when space is limited. One solution: Alcorn McBride's recently introduced Digital Binloop HD. The device can handle playback of up to eight HD video channels in only 3RU. Video is stored on CompactFlash, so there are no parts that might wear out. Video resolutions include 1080i, 720p, 480p/576p, and 480i/576i, and output is via HDMI or HD-SDI with embedded audio. Other features include component (YPbPr) or RGB, with composite SD monitor output.
