It's still not an idea many DPs are comfortable with: Find a way to attach 35mm fixed-focal-length film lenses to a videocamera to deliver more of a modeled, 3D look we associate with cinema. But the add-on optical devices add complexity to a shoot, reduce light transmission, and throw off camera ergonomics so that only locked-down shots are viable. If that's not enough to dissuade you, camera-rig designer P+S Technik's Pro35 digital image converter might be worth a look. The Pro35 allows you to attach any Arri PL-mounted 35mm lens to a 2/3in. HD or SD camera. Optional mounts are available for Nikon, Panavision, Mitchell Camera BNCR, Contax, and Canon EF and FD lenses.
