Onscreen at NAB
Last year, NAB invited users of our Reel-Exchange service (reel-exchange.com) to exhibit their work on the 35ft. screen in the Central Hall Content Theater, as well as at various locations throughout the show and convention via DVD and online at nab365.com.
This year, NAB has asked us to expand the program and produce four compilations — one each for cinematographers, editors/visual-effects artists, animators, and students. To be eligible, you must sign up for Reel-Exchange. It's free, and you will not be solicited, though you will receive a weekly newsletter about your colleagues' reels and job postings that you may opt out of if you wish, as well as the occasional technical-support message from the Reel-Exchange Community Manager Craig Erpelding. To establish your account, go to reel-exchange.com/register.html and join with promo code REX009. It's easy to join, build a profile, and upload a video in any format. Be sure to choose the Reel Impressions affiliation from the dropdown menu when you build your profile, so your reel will get maximum visibility on the Reel Impressions channel and on NAB's sites.
All (appropriate) uploaded reels will be exhibited as part of NAB's online presence and on the show floor. Those of you who also submit 1920x1080i HDCAM or HDCAM SR masters of your reel by mail will be eligible for the Content Theater compilations. We'll have to use some technical and editorial judgment in the final selections, but we'll include as many as we feasibly can. You'll also need to submit a list of the cameras and software used to create the reel (to the best of your memory). Finally, we're encouraging people to watermark their reel with their company name and city. You will be credited on the credits card either way.
Send your master to Reel Impressions c/o Craig Erpelding, 330 N. Wabash Ave., Suite 2300, Chicago, IL 60611 by Feb. 27. Please indicate which showcases — Cinematography, Editing/Visual Effects, Animation, and/or Student — you wish to be included in.
