It was probably the only new tape-based camcorder introduced at NAB Show 2009, but Sony's SRW-9000 HDCAM SR camcorder still has a place in the company's future. Tape is a mature technology, which means bugs have been worked out and charges for R&D taken out long ago.

Think of it as a smaller, compact F23; the 2/3in. CCDs record 10-bit, 1080p 4:2:2 at 23.98p, 24p, 29.97p, 59.94p, and a number of other timings.

Optional add-in cards deliver dual-link HD-SDI output (for 4:2:2 1080p60 output), variable-speed recording (1fps-60fps), and 4:4:4 RGB digital negative (S-Log Gamma) recording and output for more flexible DI post.
