Arri M18
Anyone involved in location production knows about choosing between powerful lighting rigs that need experienced gaffers to rig to power lines and less potent gear that, while simple to plug in, doesn''t allow
adequate coverage.
At NAB Show 2009, Arri Lighting solved that either/or equation with the debut of its M18 lamp head. Based on a new lamp design—the 1800W SE HMI—the lensless, open-face lighting fixture plugs directly into 120V/20A wall sockets. Meanwhile, the Arrimax reflector creates a crisp shadow even without using a Fresnel lens. With a flexible beam angle of 20 degrees to 60 degrees, the M18 can also be turned into a more focused, narrow-angle Arrisun 18 with a kit containing an Arri spread lens and a PAR reflector.
