Litepanels 1x1 SuperSpot
While the first LEDs for production found ready acceptance as on-camera eye lights, the tiny lights couldn't challenge the capabilities of quartz- and HMI-style units used to illuminate larger areas.
But Litepanels, one LED innovator to keep an eye on, has already developed a slimline fixture for lighting larger areas. The 1x1 Spot fixture with a 5600K color rating has found increasing acceptance for productions looking to cut down on heat and electricity use.
Those Spot panels, however, cover a fairly wide 30-degree area. The company has now released its 1x1 SuperSpot, which focuses that 5600K beam to a 15-degree spot. Like the earlier model, the SuperSpot includes a control knob on the back that allows you to instantly dim the fixture from 100 percent to 0 percent with only a minimal shift in color. It's compact, too, measuring 12"x12"x1.75" (WxHxD) and weighing 3lbs.
