With interest growing in 3D production, camera manufacturers won't be the only ones at NAB Show 2010 attracting attention. Any smart DP knows the rest of the system needs to support those dual-camera systems.

That support is literal in the case of camera rig maker Polecam, which said it was responding to rapidly increasing demand for 3D HD video content by supplying its Polecam 3D Narrow Pan and Tilt Head as standard with all new systems. Optionally, buyers can select the new 3D-Wide head to create a more pronounced stereo effect even in a long shot, according to the company. (Normal 3D convergence width makes anything beyond about 30ft. flatten out so you negate any 3D effect.)

Whichever version you choose won't be a problem for anyone adding one of the new heads to their current system, since both attach directly to all standard Polecam rigs, according to Polecam founder and Managing Director Steffan Hewitt.

Normally used with two mini HD cameras positioned side by side, the rig includes a leveling plate with three fine-adjustment verniers that allow each camera to be matched in height and forward angle.
