Shoot Tools — Sanken
For stereo recording on location, two microphones are often placed in one mic casing. If each of the two capsules is independently adjustable, the user can create a variety of stereo and surround recording mic techniques, either during a live mix or in post. That's what Sanken offers with its CUW-180, a two-cardioid condenser mic. Each of the two independently adjustable capsules covers a 180-degree radius. This versatile microphone works out well for common X-Y configurations, as the position of both capsules maintains optimum on-axis response and phase coherence. For surround applications, two CUW-180 mics can capture four channels of Left, Right, Surround Left, and Surround Right simultaneously; each of the four signals remains independently adjustable. Plus24 sells the mics in the United States.
