Succeeding the VPL-PX32 projector, Sony's new VPL-PX40sports newly developed .99in. LCD panels, which feature a newelliptical-shaped optical engine. Sony says the new panel design makesthem almost equivalent to 1.3in. panels in terms of the light energythat passes through. This and a 265W UHP lamp contribute to a 3500 ANSIlumens brightness rating. Contrast improves to 700:1. The 15lb.projector is slotted for both portable and installation use. It isIP-addressable and features Ethernet connections. Connectivity is astrength: The VPL-PX40 has two analog and two digital RGB inputs, anS-Video connection, DVI, and five BNC connectors for DTV signals andcomponent video from a DVD player.
