Edit Integrate Tools ATTO Technology
Works with existing direct-attached SCSI storage devices.
Price: $395
For years, Mac users relied on SCSI-connected drives for fast, reliable storage. But SCSI devices won't work with long cable runs, this limits the protocol for creating easier to manage centralized storage. The recently introduced iSCSI standard, however, changes all that. iSCSI (Internet SCSI) is a protocol that can quickly create IP-based SANs. These SANs mean that a shop can install a low-cost 10/100 or Gigabit Ethernet network so that SCSI storage can be shared. ATTO Technology's Mac iSCSI software initiator (initiators are devices that request I/O processes) creates the iSCSI connectivity. With storage centralized, workstations can be placed just about anywhere. The software works in conjunction with ATTO's iPBridge HBA cards.
