Shoot Tools — Sony
Sony's POV
POV (point of view) cameras usually offer a basic — OK, stripped-down — version of higher-end models. But without all those extras, they come in at a lower price point. Sony applies that minimalist thinking to HD shooting with the NAB debut of its HDC-X300. The camera employs three newly designed 1/2in. Power HAD CCDs, which still deliver 1.5 megapixels each. A compact, lightweight body is a prime spec for multi-purpose POV cameras; the X300 delivers on that with its 2.6lb. (without lens) compact 9.5×9.5×16cm body. The HDC-X300 is switchable among a range of 1080 linear shooting modes, including 59.94i, 30p, and 24p. Camera features include a minimum illumination of 0.003 lux (with slow shutter), exchangeable lenses, and a slow shutter functionality of one to eight frames.
