Products: Rosendahl
Today, we enjoy a plethora of small, portable hard drives, each competing with the other over size, price, and the slickest case. Germany-based Rosendahl came up with something a bit different. Sure, its BonsaiDrive, introduced at AES, is cute and captures video (4:2:2 PAL or NTSC), too. It's the audio I/O, however, that's got real chops. The petite drive includes not only an analog stereo pair, but also eight channels of 24-bit, 48kHz ADAT, making it ideal for recording on-location mixes.
Connections include timecode, Sony 9-pin remote control, MTC, MMC, video synch, word clock, and GPI. The 3.5lb. recorder records video in composite, S-Video, or component formats via a lossless 2:1 compression.
Because each start/stop recording creates unique clips, users can quickly generate video playback with an associated EDL. With each frame recorded individually, controls such as jog, shuttle, and playback run up to 2X, delivering a familiar analog VTR feel. www.sennheiserusa.com
