If you're shooting on location and trying to be unobtrusive, putting up lights could ruin the situation. While boosting gain covers some of the situation, the grainy results might not be what you want.
Litepanels offers one solution to that conundrum. The company, which makes the popular LED-based Litepanel Mini, now offers Litepanels Infrared. According to LitePanels, shooters will now have the capability to work in total darkness.
Currently used on HBO's Family Bonds documentary series, the on-camera Litepanels Infrared is compact (6.75"×2.25"×1.25") and lightweight (9.6oz.). The detachable head can be mounted on a stand or taped to a wall, with only a 10V-30V source needed. What's more, the 960nm output produces no visible light. The system is available as a single head or in a kit that adds in a battery pack, power adapter, and a swivel arm with hotshoe adapter. www.litepanels.com
