The widely used M/S stereo recording style now comes in an improved version, Double M/S. How's that? The technique, which adds a rear-facing directional mic, enables 5.0 recording, as well as more flexible processing of the stereo image width during postproduction.

Famed mic manufacturer Schoeps developed a system for Double M/S that employs the WSR-DMS mic holder. As part of the WSR-DMS LU Double-MS Surround Set, the shock mount comes with two CCM 4VL and one CCM 8L Schoeps miniature mic properly mounted in a Double M/S configuration. Also included are a windscreen, a Windjammer fur cover, and a cable set adapter for the three mics to a 7-pin XLR-M.
