DV Rack 2.0 is a major update to Serious Magic's direct-to-disk recording and monitoring software for Windows. The standard software works with DV camcorders connected to a computer via FireWire, and the HD version accepts DVCPRO 50, DVCPRO HD, and HDV footage as well. Among its lengthy list of new features are motion-activated recording, stop-motion recording of static objects one frame at a time, and time-lapse recording. DV Rack 2.0 also performs pulldown removal for 24p(a) footage for true 24fps capture, and there's now an RGB waveform monitor for checking legality of individual color channels. Continuity tools include a Split Function in the field monitor and an Onion Skin mode that overlays a recorded clip atop a live feed to ensure identical framing between shots.
